The BC Winter Games is a prestigious event that brings together young athletes from across the province to compete and showcase their skills. This year's games were held in Vernon, BC, and among the many people involved in making the event a success were the students from the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy.
The college's students were given the opportunity to provide massage therapy treatments to the athletes competing at the games. This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to gain valuable hands-on experience in treating athletes and to contribute to the success of the games.
Massage therapy is an essential part of an athlete's training and recovery. It can help prevent injuries, improve performance, and speed up recovery time. For the athletes competing at the BC Winter Games, having access to massage therapy was of great benefit.
The students were able to provide the athletes with a range of massage techniques, including sports massage, deep tissue massage, and Swedish massage. These techniques can be used to address different issues, such as muscle tension, pain, and inflammation.
The athletes who received massage therapy were extremely appreciative of the service. They reported feeling more relaxed and prepared for their events after receiving a massage. The students, in turn, were able to see the direct impact of their work on the athletes' performance and well-being.
The opportunity to work with athletes at the BC Winter Games was a real Win-Win. It gave students a chance to apply the skills and knowledge they had learned in the classroom to a real-world setting. It also provided them with a unique experience that will benefit them in their future careers as massage therapists. They were able to provide the athletes with the care and support they needed to perform at their best. Congratulations to all the athletes, volunteers and to the OV students that participated! It was a great BC winter games!
